How it works

WHY DATA STUDIO?

Data is everywhere - in business, organizations and governance, as well as personal surroundings - and knowing how to read, interpret and understand data has become one of the most important skills to have in navigating diverse situations and contexts in today’s day and age. Data literacy is key to enabling fact-based conversations and decision-making processes.

Developing data literacy skills empowers professionals, business owners and the general public alike, by making people able to ask the right questions, to recognise the value of the data available to them and how to use and implement it in a positive and effective way.

According to Forbes business magazine, Data is the fuel that runs the fourth industrial revolution. The value of data literacy is continuing to increase in companies all over the world’ with research predicting that ‘70% of employees are expected to work heavily with data by 2025 — up from just 40% in 2018 (making) knowing how to work with data is more important than ever’.

In response to the growing IT and Data Analytics industries, as well as to national skills shortages, Data Studio is a data inclusion, up-skilling and re-skilling initiative promoting data literacy in Luxembourg by fostering an environment to learn and engage with data analysis for the general public.

Data Studio’s goal is to share our passion and knowledge about Data Analytics and to help you develop data literacy and data analytics skills. We strive to bring people from diverse personal and professional backgrounds together, all with a shared interest in data - creating a space where experiences can be shared and new ideas can emerge.

HOW IT WORKS

Data Studio offers a program for data analytics skills development as well as a platform for community engagement.

Spanning from September 2023 until July 2024, participants will be able to take part in monthly challenges. Each month a real-world, existing data set will be provided and worked with. Through a combination of demos, blog posts, best practice examples and Q&As, Data Studio will guide you through completing the monthly challenge. Participants are introduced to data analysis, its methods and tools, learning how to read, understand, analyse and communicate data independently and to take part in fact-based conversations and decision-making.

Alongside the monthly challenges, Data Studio will also invite guest speakers to share their experience and insights in Data Analytics.

Additionally, as a community-based knowledge-sharing platform, a range of in-person meet-ups will be organised for the Data Studio community and all other members of the general public interested or working in Data Analytics, to join and connect.

The 2023/24 program will be rounded off with a National Best Dashboard Design 2024 Championship taking place in June 2024.
